ARCHITECT & URBANIST

Trace Wilson founded Materia as a multi-disciplinary design and development firm.  As Principal of Materia, founded in 1997, Trace is focused on bringing Architecture, Urbanism, Landscape, Planning, and Development together to create high quality, unique, and exciting places throughout the World.

Trace is a licensed Architect in the State of California and a Certified Planner with the American Planning Association.  He earned a Master’s in Architecture and Urbanism from MIT, a Bachelor of Architecture from USC, and with 30 years of experience, Trace has a breadth of expertise that extends far past the design and construction of buildings.  His robust mix of disciplines fuels his passion for creating great places that include high quality city and town plans – streetscapes, parks, open spaces, along with exceptional buildings.

Trace is deeply involved in his community and is currently on the Board of Councilors for USC Architecture, the President of The Association for The City of La Jolla, an Educational Councilor for MIT Admissions, a guest Critic at USC Architecture, and on the Alumni Board for The Bishop’s School.
